Good news for all consumers as work starts on the establishing the electricity transmission line with Mozambique. In his address during the launch ceremony, H.E. President Lazarus Chakwera said, the project aims to address ever increasing electricity demand in Malawi by establishing a transmission link between Malawi and Mozambique. Once completed, the line will initially supply of 50mw of power from Mozambique to Malawi.
The project which is being funded by the European Union, World Bank and Malawi Government to the tune of $127 million, will build a 218 kilometres 400 kilovolts high voltage power line from Matambo, Tete Province, in Mozambique to Phombeya Substation in Balaka.
